Yn yr Ysgol - In school

At Pembroke, we are dedicated to nurturing a love for the Welsh language and celebrating its rich culture.

In school, we teach conversational Welsh daily in all classes during our Cymraeg Bob Dydd sessions and the children enjoy engaging in a variety of games and songs. Welsh lessons also link in with class topics where we take every opportunity to embed Welsh naturally into everyday learning.

All staff are passionate about using Welsh around our school and incorporate incidental Welsh throughout the school day and actively encourage pupils to use Welsh regularly both in and out of the classroom.

Language Legends

Rydyn ni’n Language Legends of Pembroke Primary School. We have at least one member from each class from Blwyddyn 2 to Blwyddyn 6. Each of us was voted by our class to be members of the Language Legends. Some of us have been part of the Language Legends for a few years now.

What do we do?

In our meetings, we work together on driving the Cymraeg Campus forward in our school and encourage use of our ‘Patrwm Cymraeg y Mis’ (Welsh pattern of the month). We also use the various displays around the school to display the monthly pattern and to inform other pupils, staff and families on any updates regarding Welsh. . As the Language Legends, we have a responsibility to help improve Cymraeg in Pembroke Primary. We encourage both children and staff to use Welsh as often as possible, both in and out of class.

Cymraeg Campus- Working Towards Our Silver Award

At Pembroke Primary, we are passionate about creating a strong Welsh ethos across our whole school. The Cymraeg Campus Language Charter helps us do this by encouraging everyone – pupils, staff, parents, governors, and the wider community – to use and enjoy Welsh every day.

Our Language Legends lead the way, helping to plan exciting activities that make learning Welsh fun and meaningful for everyone.

We are proud to say that we are currently working towards our Silver Award and can’t wait to celebrate this next step in our Welsh language journey with you!
