Meet Our School Council

Our School council consists of two representatives from years 2 to 6 who meet with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher regularly. Children who express an interest in the role are elected by their peers to represent the views of all pupils. Our School Council support the whole school in making many decisions which help to make our school a better place. Pupil voice is very important to us and we value our pupil's opinions; it is their school.

Our council have supported us in spending grant money, planning PTA events, setting up lunchtime clubs, monitoring teaching and learning, organising charity days and representing the school at community events. The children have fantastic ideas and are often seen around the school with their clipboards to gain ideas and opinions from all children.

Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) -Respect for views of the child.

Our school council has played a vital role in the continuous development and improvement of our school. Pupils who represent our School Council are elected by their class peers each year.

The council’s collaborative approach has helped ensure that decisions are reflective of the school community's needs and aspirations, making them an essential partner in our school's ongoing growth.

Throughout the academic year 24-25, the school council have;

  • Supported ways in which we can improve whole school attendance, by delivering whole school assemblies about keeping healthy, creating posters for every class to manage their class attendance, presenting the weekly attendance in celebration assemblies.

  • Been a part of teacher and teaching assistant interviews.

  • Carried out whole school questionnaires to seek pupil voice on ways in which we can improve playtimes in our school. With a budget, school council have then been a part of ordering play equipment.
